MJ's 2nd birthday!

Mj turned 2 on Febuary 5th, and he had such a wonderful time celebrating! Both sets of grandparents came in town, along with his uncle Ricky and Violet (Violet was my nanny since I was 8 months old...she's basically a part of the family now!) Anyway, we started off the day with doughnuts and juice boxes at soccer practice, and then had a blast at his party at the Dallas Children's Museum!

Because MJ LOVES firetrucks, we had a firetruck theme! There is a huge firetruck in the middle of the museum for all the kids to play on, and everything was "fire trucked" The little ones had fire truck sippy cups, hats and outfits, stickers, bubbles etc...and lucky for us...we even had a real live fire man (named Papa Gardner) come and visit the kiddos!

They had fun milking the cows, planting seeds, and playing with all the fun things the museum had the offer! But as much fun as he had running around, MJ's favorite part was definitely singing happy birthday, opening presents, and eating cake! (He still sings happy birthday to himself when he's happy...it's really cute)

Snowed in!

Because Mark and I have family from California to Colorado to Boston, it is sometimes dificult to keep everybody updated with the new happenings of our little family. MJ is about to turn 2-and as I think about how quickly he is growing and our lives are changing, it makes me sad that we can't visit with everybody as often as we would like to share these memories! So, my new years resolution was to start a family blog and share little milestones or exciting new developments of MJ. And isn't a snow day the perfect time to get started?

The most important thing we've been working on is MJ's 2nd birthday. I can't believe he's almost 2! Mark says that "he's almost a real human now!" because he will talk your ear off, sing his favorite songs until you sing (and dance) with him, and has more energy than you can imagine!

Right now, his favorite things to do every week are

Art class at the children's museum, gymboree classes, and soccer class! And as you can tell by the picture, MJ takes his art very seriously....

Soccer class is awesome because it's on Saturdays, which means Mark gets to go too! Sometimes it's tough to tell which one of the boys has more fun :-)

I feel very blessed to be able to do these little classes with MJ. It is wonderful to watch him grow right in front of me, and help him discover the world around him through painting, singing, climbing, reading and of course chasing a soccer ball. and oh goodness does MJ love them!

Speaking of "oh goodness," his new "thing" is to scream "oh my GOODNESS!!" when he is excited! For example, we were driving the other day and I noticed our little pop star had stopped singing (which is rare)...but it all made sense when I felt him kick my chair and heard"Momma! Look! Oh my GOODNESS! A FIRE TRUCK! OhMyGoodness!!!!" I melt. And every time he hears the garage door open, you (and I'm sure even the neighboors) can hear his excited "Oh! Oh my goodness! DADDA HOME!!" When I figure out how to add a video I will have to share it with yall!

Well that is it for today, nap time is almost over...but I look forward to sharing more about his birthday!
